Support and guidance for relatives
Orientation on care grades, benefit routes and organising care. Not a substitute for legal or social counselling.

Who is this for?
This advice service is for family members who have taken on caring responsibilities, whether overnight or gradually, and now want a clear picture: after a diagnosis, before the first care grade application, or when the current arrangement is reaching its limits. You do not need to be a client of ours; sometimes a conversation that puts things in order is exactly what is missing at the start. It often begins with a phone call and a single question. That can grow into a longer conversation, but it does not have to. And whatever you tell us, we treat confidentially within our legal obligations; the details are set out in our privacy policy. Trust is the foundation of any good advice.
What we take care of
An orientation conversation We take time to understand your situation and work out together what needs attention now, what can wait, and what you can safely hand over to others.
Making sense of the benefit routes Care allowance, in-kind care benefits, the relief amount, respite care. We explain how these routes work together, in plain language rather than official jargon.
Support with the care grade application From the initial informal application through to preparing for the assessment at home, with honest advice on what really matters.
Uncovering support that goes unclaimed Many entitlements are never used simply because no one knows about them. We show you what you are entitled to and how to access it.
Being honest about our limits We offer guidance drawn from day-to-day care practice; we do not replace legal or social welfare advice, and we say clearly when another service is the right place to turn.
Preparing for transitions Hospital discharge, a new care grade, a change in living arrangements. Before turning points like these, it helps to talk through the next steps calmly and without pressure.
How it works
First conversation
Tell us where you stand, even if nothing is organised yet. That is exactly what this conversation is for.
Sorting it out together
In the conversation or during a home visit we work out with you which services and benefit routes fit your situation.
Next steps
You decide how to proceed, with a clear picture of what makes sense now.
The first step is as easy as we can make it: you call, briefly describe the situation, and we listen. Sometimes that one conversation is enough; sometimes we arrange a meeting at your home or at our office on Kielredder in Barsbüttel. On request, the conversation can be held in German, Persian or English. You decide how far the support should go, and none of it obliges you to book any service with us. If you prefer, we call you back at an agreed time.
Anything you already have helps to give the conversation structure: the care fund's decision letter, letters from the medical review board, a care diary or the hospital discharge letter. None of it is a requirement; bring what is there and we sort the rest together. Often the guidance begins precisely where no papers exist yet, because the application is still ahead; then we walk through the steps together from the very beginning.
Our guidance has a clear frame: we provide orientation from daily care practice, on applications, benefit routes and relief in everyday life. We do not replace legal advice, social counselling or the funds' decisions, and where the care fund, a care support centre or a lawyer is the better route, we say so explicitly. That way you get advice you can rely on, free of false promises.
Common questions about this service
Does the advice cost anything?
The first conversation, and the orientation it gives you, is free of charge and without obligation, whether or not you go on to book services with us afterwards. It matters more to us that families gain clarity early than that a contract comes out of it.
Does this replace care counselling under section 7a?
No, it complements it. Counselling under section 7a is a separate entitlement, free of charge, provided by the care insurance funds and care support centres. Our advice comes from the daily practice of home-based care, and we will tell you openly when the fund or a support centre is the better place to go.
Do you also advise families whose care is provided elsewhere?
Yes. Some families come to us only with questions about the application or the assessment. We help all the same, because people who are well informed make better decisions, even if they do not choose us in the end.
In which languages is the advice available?
In German, Persian, and English. Especially with applications and official decision letters, it helps to have things explained in your own language.
Can the conversation take place by phone?
Yes. A great deal can be settled over the phone, especially when things need to move quickly. For questions about everyday life at home, nothing replaces seeing the situation in person; both options are open to you.
